Some of you may have heard the news already, but last night was Coach Todd Jones’ final City Meet as head coach, as he will be stepping down from that role with the Tidal Waves. Todd has coached our summer swimmers since 2015 through a tenure which has included four undefeated division championship seasons and three City Meet championships. Listing his coaching accolades, though, does little to describe the man and his profound effect on the character and spirit of our swimmers. He has been a tremendous asset to the team and we thank him for eight fantastic years of service to our team.

Going forward, Coach Todd will continue in his role as head coach of the SETS year-round program and will still be on the deck during Tidal Wave summer meets — just serving in a Dad role. We know this was a difficult decision for him, as he loves working with the kids, but we certainly support his desire to put family first and wish him the very best!

With Todd stepping aside, we are excited to announce that the Tidal Waves coaching apple isn’t going to fall to far from the tree, as Coach Stephen Jones will step into the role of head coach for the 2023 season and onward. We have been blessed by Stephen’s hard work and development into an outstanding leader of our team and feel confident about the development of our swimmers and continued excellence of our program in his hands going forward.

Be sure to offer some words of encouragement to both of these men at the banquet next week. There’s a lot to celebrate!
