Meet Info: Dalton at Home
June 5th
- The meet will start at 5:30 and we will warm up at 4:30.
- Summertime thunderstorm season is upon us and we have our typical greater-than-zero chance of storms during the meet tonight. Please turn on your SwimTopia notifications, if you haven't already, for any late-breaking updates.
- Parking will be at a premium
tonight, between our meet and other weeknight events in the pool
vicinity. Please follow these guidelines to help keep us in the good
graces of our neighbors:
- Review our Meet Day Parking map to refresh your memory of our available spaces.
- Please follow our parking team's guidance and conserve space as much as possible.
- The lot between FitOne and the gymnastics center is our primary lot for meet day.
- Do not park in the main lot south of the pool until after 5:00 so our visitors have first crack at the 'easy' spots, due to their unfamiliarity with the charming quirks of our parking situation
- Do not park in the small grass area between the OSC main lot and the road in front of the pool house.
- Be sure to check in swimmers and volunteers at the south gate when you arrive. If you haven't picked up your merchandise or team caps, those will be available at the south gate as well.
- Meet Seating:
- Please leave the north side of the pool open for our guests' tents, chairs, etc. We're a big group by ourselves, but try to pack it in on the south side of the pool and kiddie pool area.
- Please be sure to keep tents away from the enclosure rails on the pool deck, in case we need to close the shell.
- Remember that parents are not to be behind the blocks during meets, especially at our home pool with the enclosure and limited space. Once the meet starts, please stay out of that area in the interests of our coaches' ability to organize the meet and our swimmers' safety.
- We have had a few requests for individual swimmers to swim breaststroke or butterfly during the meet. We encourage swimmers to stretch themselves to learn to swim those more technical strokes properly -- after all, it's all about learning and progressing. During the regular season, in the interest of reducing the meet timeline, those events (along with the 100IM) only consist of one heat per event -- the scoring heat. If your swimmer is not swimming in that heat, they still have the opportunity to swim the stroke they would like to work on during an exhibition freestyle heat (freestyle being defined as basically anything, so swimming fly/breast/back is fine.) If you are interested in your swimmer doing this, please feel free to speak with a coach.
- If your swimmer rips their swim cap (it happens), we have a limited number of those available for purchase at concessions.
That's all for now. Heat sheets and any additional notes will be emailed this afternoon. If you're volunteering today, we'll be in touch shortly with further info.
