Prior to City Meet, we like to share the league guidelines regarding legal equipment for the swimmers to be sure there are no surprises during the meet. These come from section F of the CASL rules and regulations document.  Please be aware that violations of these rules will result in a DQ of the swimmer or relay:

Swim Caps:

Swimmers are encouraged, if they so choose, to wear the swim cap of their CASL team. If they choose not to wear the cap of their CASL team, they must choose to wear an Emily’s Power for a Cure cap, an unmarked neutral cap, or no cap. Unapproved caps may be turned inside out to comply with the rule. All other caps are unapproved. Swimmers will be disqualified for wearing unapproved caps.

Swim Suits:

All tie-back suits and suits endorsing non-CASL teams are considered inappropriate for competition, therefore violation of this rule will result in disqualification.

Pursuant to the 9/1/2020 USA Swimming rule regarding technical suits, no technical suit shall be worn by any CASL athlete age 12 and under at any CASL meet including dual meets and City Meet. Violation of this rule will result in disqualification.

A technical suit is defined as a suit with any bonded or taped seams regardless of its fabric or silhouette or any suit with woven fabric extending past the hips.

Any male or female suit with woven fabric and to the knee or mid-thigh is defined as a technical suit regardless of the type seams: bonded, taped or sewn. (Note: A woven suit with sewn seams and in a male brief or female regular cut not to the knees is not defined as a technical suit and is not restricted).

Any suit that does not have the FINA logo on it is approved for 12-Under use. There are a handful of suits in the market that have the FINA logo that would be considered legal for competition because they do not meet the definition of what is deemed a technical suit. These suits and only these suits will bear an additional check mark logo developed by USA Swimming to indicate that the suit is compliant with the rule. This check mark will be placed to the left or right of the FINA logo on the suit.

Medical Tape:

Swimmers may use medical tape (i.e. elastic therapeutic tape, kinesio tape, etc.) with a written doctor's note. The doctor's note should include the specific site on the body where tape is needed and should be presented to the official prior to the start of the meet. Swimmer will be disqualified for wearing tape without presenting a doctor's note.

Accessories:

Swimmers should remove all accessories prior to competition. Accessories, in general, are anything visible on the swimmer aside from a swimsuit, cap, and goggles. Particularly, be sure to have your swimmer remove any watches, bracelets, necklaces, etc. prior to racing.
