    2024 City Meet Info

We're going to consolidate all our info throughout the week into this post.  Hopefully it'll give an easy (if lengthy) reference for everyone.

    • Official CASL City Meet Info Page -- refer here for heat sheets, timelines, the crash area map, warmup assignments & times, and any other general meet info.
    • Location19 Van Cleve St, Ft Oglethorpe, GA
    • Dates: July 12-13
    • Times: 10 & unders swim in the morning, 11 & over in the afternoon, finals for qualifiers of all ages are in the evening.  See timeline in meet info link above for full details.
      • Saturday:
        • 10 & under swimmers warm up at 7:00am with a session start time of 8:30
        • 11 & older swimmers warm up at 12:05 and their session starts at 1:15
    • Results: The Meet Mobile smartphone app (NOT SwimTopia!) will have live results posted as available throughout the weekend. Be sure to download it so you can follow along. We'll post info on how to find the meet in the app once that info is available
    • Practices: In preparation for the meet, there will be NO PM practices on Thursday, July 11.
    • Bring: FOOD & WATER, chairs, a tent if you have one, sunscreen, heat sheets, sharpies, extra everything your swimmer needs for swimming (cap, goggles, suit), and anything else you like to keep you and your swimmer "comfortable" outside in the middle of July.
    • Parking:
      • First, note the location of our crash area -- in the foot-shaped grassy area directly to the south of the pool.  Given the location, many families find the Forrest Road parking area to be convenient.
      • The traditional main grass parking area south of the pool is now full of pickleball courts, but some parking around those courts is still available.
      • A good bit of new paved parking has been created on the north side of the pool. PLEASE NOTE, however, that getting in and out of that paved lot by the pool is likely to be a slow process during the normal arrival and departure times before/between sessions. If you're coming back for a final and expecting to enter the paved lots at the last minute, that might go poorly for your swimmer and the team, so please plan accordingly!
    • RVs and Campers: In years past, we've seen a number of families (all of whom I've been envious) bring their beautifully air-conditioned RVs and campers. Unfortunately, we've been asked by the facility to discontinue that for this year.
    • Set Up: We are able to start setting up tents in our crash area (see link above) after 4:00pm on Thursday
    • Relays:
      • In order to know which relays your swimmer is in, reference this spreadsheet (still in progress as of Wednesday night) throughout the meet. There are names on the heat sheets, but we often have to reshuffle things as we go, so we will use this spreadsheet to keep everyone up to speed.
      • 11 & older relays should self-organize and report to their assigned race as required.  We're counting on you, swimmers & parents!
      • 10 & under relays have a single parent assigned to organize each relay quartet. This amazing and meet-critical parent will collect the kids in their relay and get them to the correct heat/lane. Our relay parents will be looking for their team members immediately after warm ups. Parents, please help our relay parents by figuring out which parent is assigned to your swimmer's relay (in the relay info sheet linked above) and helping them identify your swimmer during that time. There's a lot going on, so going at this from both sides will ensure nobody slips through the cracks.
    • Equipment: At City Meet, swimmers will be disqualified for wearing unapproved equipment.  Please note the following:
      • Caps: Swimmers must wear a Tidal Waves cap, an unmarked (or inside-out) cap, or no cap.
      • Suits: No tie-back suits. No suits with logos of non-CASL teams.  No tech suits for 12&under swimmers.
      • Medical Tape: No medical tape without a doctor's note, handed to coaches for delivery to the meed referee.
      • Accessories: No watches, bracelets, necklaces, etc.  Anything other than a suit, goggles, and cap should be worn (though small earrings are typically accepted).
