    City Meet Information

Please read the following carefully as there is important information related to City Meet and the practices leading up to it.

    1.    There will be a combined evening practice (last practice of the season) on Thursday night at 6:30 for all ages so everyone gets home early.  Thursday morning practice will go as normally scheduled.

    2.    Attached is the warm-up schedule and lane assignments for both days at City Meet.  These are only 20 minute warm-up sessions so please have your swimmer on the pool deck early enough.  We are noted as "TWSA" on the warm-up sheets.

    3.    The "crash" area for our team is also noted on the attached map.  You can go to the park at 4 pm on Thurs to setup or feel free to wait until you arrive for warm-ups on Fri.  Please bring your canopies, chairs, and something to cover the potentially wet grass under your canopy.

    4.    There are 4 options for parking this year and they are all shown on the crash area map:
         a. small main lot at entrance on Norris (off Van Cleve) - this is a great drop off area as well
         b. big field behind pool (entrance on Gilbert off Lafayette Rd - turn onto Gilbert across from Krystal)
         c. new field parking (entrance on Forrest off Lafayette Rd)
         d. Old Fort Baptist Church on Van Cleve across from main entrance to pool

    5.    There is a swim cap rule at City Meet.  You must wear a summer team cap or a cap endorsing a charity.  No Ooltewah Swim Club, McCallie-GPS, Carpet Capital, or Baylor swim club caps will be allowed in competition.

    6.    They will have Clerk of Course for ALL kids in the morning session (10 & under).  In the afternoon, 11&up just show up at the starting block for your race.  Also, ALL kids in the evening finals will report to Clerk of Course.  Clerk of Course is essentially a check-in place on the pool deck where host team volunteers will organize the swimmers into correct heats.  It is the parent's responsibility to get swimmers to this spot.  We will have no deck parents assisting with this. We will have a parent responsible for each relay to make sure they get to the coaches in time for their relays.

    7.    Heat Sheets much like we produce for dual meets will be sold at City Meet (usually $10).  They will be available for purchase soon after you arrive for warmups.  You will need to locate your swimmer's name in each event that he/she is swimming.  You will have to follow the meet to know when to take your swimmer to the Clerk of Course.  They generally will make 1st call, 2nd call, and last call for each event.

    8.    Remember that the top 16 in each prelim event will race again in the finals session in the evening.  Also, the top 8 relays from the prelims will race again in the finals session.  That usually means most of our A relays and a couple of our B relays qualify for this.  Please find out if your child qualified for finals either as an individual or as a part of a relay before you leave the prelim session.

    9.    As usual with swim meets, make sure you bring enough to eat and drink.  Depending on whether you are there for 1 or both sessions, these can be long, warm days.

    10.  The awards ceremony will follow the finals session on Saturday evening.  Any swimmers receiving high point or runner-up awards in each age group will be presented then.  We usually have a couple of winners so stick around for that if you are able.  Individual race awards will be given out at our season ending banquet.

    11.  The psych sheet is attached to this email as well.  It will show where your swimmer ranks in each event.  Please remember that your swimmer may have improved dramatically since these times were recorded.  Encourage them to swim their best in the hopes of placing top 16.  Otherwise continued improvement is the goal.

Let's finish out the season strong.  Go Tidal Waves!

As usual, please reach out to any board member if you have any questions.
